Yeah - there is something very important in that - companies that try to keep everything for themselves are being left behind. I think this is quite visible now with Perl - at least I have seen that in the companies that I worked in - all two of them were small so it might not be universal yet - but ...And see also this argument:http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/8j3c6/railsconf_what_killed_smalltalk_could_kill_ruby/c09gi0lI am waiting for the time when this is recognized by the business leaders - that their in-house libraries and frameworks are usually no match in general terms for community vetted CPAN stuff. They might be good enough for the business keep running - but they rot.
