Hey All!
A few posts ago I mentioned that I was teaching a Modern Perl course in-house at my company as part of a drive to build a sort of "Shutterstock University" (my company of course is Shutterstock, and BTW we are still looking for Perl developers). This was a half day class that was aimed primarily at the QA and business teams, but got some attendence from members of the development team. Overall the class went very well and I got lots of great feedback. Thanks to all the members of my readership community for some of the hints and suggestions you gave me, which helped make this successful.
Based on the positive feedback I've expanded the lesson and have been seeking an external venue to teach this class somewhere in NYC over the summer. I've reached out to a number of universities and learning centers but haven't had a lot of luck getting to the right person who can help me make this happen. So I am once again asking you in the Perl community if you have any thoughts or contacts at some of the various learning centers here in New York City who can help me turn this class into a reality this summer? So far I've spoken with a number of IT departments at schools like NYU and Stevens University without a lot of luck. So if you have a contact that might be more open to the idea please let me know and we can make this class happen! Otherwise I'll probably just set up a huge project in the middle of Central Park and give that a go :)
Thanks!
Try reaching out to your local Perl Mongers? I know I love nothing more than offers of presentations for my mongerage in los angeles ( http://la.pm.org ).
